Is holden jealous or not?
It is hard to tell but some people might get the feeling that holden is a little jealous at the boy jane danced with at the dance. Holden thought he was and girls arrogant and a show-off. He might have been but i think it also had a little to do with him liking jane to. He wanted to call her and when he was thinking about calling her, he got that memory back in his head when they were dancing together.

Why did holden want a girl?
The reason I think he wanted a prostitute to come up to his room is because he was pretty lonely and just wanted someone to talk to. I dont think he actually wanted to do anything with her, he just wanted to have a nice conversation. I think this shows that holden might have a mental or emotional problem and he always needs someone to be around because he gets so lonely.

Childhood to Adulthood!
I think there is a lot of change between childhood to adult hood just because it takes a lot of growing up to make that step. You carry more responsibilities and along with that you have to act more professional because more people are looking up to you. You arent the one looking up to people anymore because youve grown up and now you are the one being looked up to as a role model. In order to be a good role model you have to act mature. It takes a lot to take that step from childhood to adulthood.

Does he sound mature?
When talking to that girl when he was in his hotel room i got the feeling that he was trying to talk to her like he was a lot older then what he really is. When he asks her to go out for a cocktail, it makes him sound pretty old and mature. He has times where he acts a little immature and he has times where he tries to act older than what he is a wants to sound mature. Do you think as a girl on the phone you would have thought he was older than 16 or 16 with the way he talks and the question "do you want to have a cocktail"?

Is Holden lonely?
When looking at holden I feel he is a little lonely. You always get the feeling that he is trying to get someone to be by his side at all times and when he doesnt have anyone by his side he always wants to talk to someone on the phone or something to feel that he has that someone by his side. He calls anyone he can get a hold of and tries calling everyone just so he has someone to talk to. I think this lonelyness started sometime close to when his brother died because he had someone to be close to i think with his brother there and now he doesnt have that to be close to so now i think he is getting lonely without him.

Why is Ackley disrespectful to Holdin?
It seems like ackley doesn't give Holdin respect and disobeys everything holdin tells him to do. Holdin is constantly telling ackley to get out of his dorm room because he is nasty and is known as a "slob", but ackley doesn't listen to him and walks around holdins room as if it was his own room. I don't think that holdin should recieve the respect that he is recieving from ackley because with him in his own room and ackley doing what he wants in someone elses room is very disrespectful. Once stradlater walks into the room, ackley is out of the room in a hurry because it seems as if he is scared of him. He doesn't want to be in the room with stradlater so when he walks in, thats the only way ackley leaves the room and isn't bothering Holdin.

What do you think about Holdin Caulfield?
It is hard to still look at Holdin a certain way because he has done so many different things that could change your view of him. Sometimes you could look at him as a slacker, or someone who just doesn't care about what happens. Other times you could look at him as someone who does care about stuff and cares about life. You see all sorts of different flashes of him. For example, with him failing 4 classes you look at him as a careless person and doesn't put any effort into stuff. On the other hand he is doing other peoples work and works hard. At this point Holdin's view of what kind of person he is, is still up in the air because there are so many different views you could take of him.
